Option 3: When learning about today’s assignment of taking portraits, I was extremely nervous and wondering how I was going to do this since I have no experience what so ever with taking portraits. But, actually while doing the assignment, I didn’t find it as difficult as I thought it would be. I actually enjoyed doing this assignment. I was always nervous to go up to someone new and start a conversation with him or her, but there was never an issue with taking anyone’s pictures. This photo is my favorite because I loved the way she is smiling and laughing. She was pointing out her house right before I took this picture and she didn’t speak any English so I’m pretty sure she was laughing at me trying to figure out what she was saying and then her trying to figure out what I was saying. I really like the color of the wall behind her and the alley and I had enough sunlight that I was able to use a low ISO of 100. I obviously wanted her face to be the focal point of the picture so I made sure that I had a low aperture of 3.4 so I was able to get good focus on her face. I also used a little faster shutter speed of 1/640 so i was able to capture her when she was laughing or smiling. When I first approached her, I asked if she spoke English and she shook her head no and then I asked her what he name was but I can’t remember what it was. She further went on to point to her house and then we both were laughing at not being able to understand each other and then I asked her if I could take her picture and she agreed to it.
