Greek Myth: Artemis

For my Greek Myth, I decided to recreate Artemis. For one of her Myths, her and Apollo embark on adventure to go kill the children of the Queen of Thebes, Niobe as she bragged about having 14 children(7 girls and 7 boys) to Leto since she only had 2 children (1 girl and 1 boy). For my pictures, I choose to describe and depict the action of finding and killing the children with the help of Artemis's  twin brother Apollo. In the end, they turn the children into stone.

Option 1: For my reading notes this week, I decided to focus on my images describing side, back and front lighting. I found the most trouble to be with the back lighting. It was really hard not to get a lot of shadows on the person’s face. It took me a little while to understand the whole metering thing but I finally grasped the concept with a little practice. I am still not a pro at it but at least I am getting better at it. For my side lighting pictures, I stood at a 45-degree angle so that half of the person’s face was shadowed and I metered off the face too. For a front lighting shot, I metered off the face and before shooting the picture right in front of the person with the lighting on my back. For backlighting, I first metered off the person’s face before taking a picture with the light facing me with it on the person’s back that I am shooting. I like the way that back lighting looks when you get it right so I just need some more experience with it to completely master it.
